3 Week Old Newborn Session (In-Studio)
Beautiful Kate sent me an enquiry for a newborn session, after recently having given birth to the gorgeous Oscar.
She had reached out to a few newborn photographers, but had been told by many of them that he was ‘too old’ for a newborn session, as he was 2 weeks at the time of her enquiry. I know many newborn photographers require babes to be fairly fresh to allow for the typical posing workflow, as babes that are less than 2 weeks old will tend to stay in a position you place them in.
I don’t photograph in this way, I’ll wrap baby and get different angles, but I don’t do any of the typical newborn poses that many others do. Partly because I don’t think they look natural, and also because I want to be able to capture this new bundle of joy at any stage!
Kate, Tom and Oscar came in to my studio in Loughborough and we began by chatting about all things labour and managing work/life balance over a coffee in downstairs Public + Plants coffee shop. Tom is self employed and has enjoyed a few weeks at home with Kate + Oscar, and Kate explained that despite the lack of sleep she loves those early mornings with just her and Oscar.
The entire session (from the first photograph) was around 1 hour and Oscar was an absolute trooper! A couple of outfit changes, plus some of him just wrapped in a blanket (my faves) and we were complete.
